About CAHK STAR Award
SUNeVision has won the 2018 CAHK STAR Award - Innovative Data Centre: Gold Award. This award is given by Communications Association of Hong Kong (CAHK). CAHK is one of the most renowned associations for Hong Kong’s communications industry. This award is the highest honor in the Innovative Data Centre category. It was an encouraging recognition for our innovation on data centre facilities and services.

Peering Challenges
Peeing Asia 2.0 was successfully held in Hong Kong on 24-25 Oct 2018. Mr. Mike Ng, Vice President, Product and Service Development of SUNeVision, was invited to speak on “Journey Stepping Toward Peering World and Cloud Gateway”. He illustrated how a highly network-dense and carrier-neutral data centre can help ISP and OTT service providers to address challenges they are facing in the journey to peering world and cloud gateway. At last, Mike concluded that an internet data centre ecosystem is the key to support enterprises to enter peering world and cloud gateway.

About Peering Asia
Peering Asia is an annual event aimed at promoting peering and interconnection in the Asia-Pacific region. This year, over three hundred peering and interconnection managers, internet exchange and data centre operators joined together. They connected, shared and exchanged latest news and technologies on peering and interconnection. SUNeVision was proud to be the Diamond sponsor. SUNeVision organized Executive Reception at Sky100 on 5 July 2018. It was a great turnout with over 70 customers and partners enjoyed the evening and amazing night view of Hong Kong at 393 metres above sea level together with our management team.

SUNeVision received Platinum Award of the Charter on External Lighting launched by Environment Bureau (ENB) of Hong Kong SAR Government. The award ceremony was officiated by the Secretary for the Environment, Mr Wong Kam-sing on 28 June to commend organizations which complied with the switch-off requirement in the past year.

In regard to sustainable development, SUNeVision is environmentally responsible. Our significant investment in green data centre technology demonstrates our emphasis on green IT and energy efficiency. We believe that going greener can help our businesses improve efficiency. Besides signing up the Charter, we also attained ISO 14001 : 2015 certification for environmental management system (EMS) of our facility management services to contribute to the environment.

Our Head of Technology, Lewis Chan, was invited to join as panelist in the Data Centre World Conference 2018 conducted at HKCEC today. During the panel discussion, Lewis joined with other panelist to discuss the topic of “Protect Your Castle 2.0”. He shared his point of view on recent trend of active-active data centres and concept of availability zones to overcome the challenges in ensuring Business Continuity nowadays.

Data Centre World, Hong Kong is a co-organized event with Cloud Expo Asia, Cloud & Cyber Security Expo, Big Data World and Smart IoT Hong Kong. Over 10,000 International data centre & infrastructure experts will attend and be inspired by more than 250 prominent industry experts from 10 theatres during the two-day event.

This is the second year for SUNeVision executives to participate ITW taking place in Chicago. Our branded VIP room was busily engaged by our SUNeVision team during the 4-day event to meet our existing / potential customers, partners, industry influencers who flew from different part of the world.

ITW creates an affordable and beneficial platform for the senior executives and decision makers of the global wholesale telecom industry to meet and conduct business. Every year the event attracted over 6,000 delegates to meet together and network. It is a fruitful event and we wish to see you again next year!

SUNeVision was invited by HKUST Business School to organize a tour visit at our flagship data centre MEGA Plus for a group of MBA students from Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) in Sweden. This tour visit is part of their 5-day Mainland Business Program which aims at providing opportunity for the students to meet and exchange knowledge and ideas with business leaders from various industries in Hong Kong and Shenzhen.

We were glad to share our insights of why Hong Kong is the APAC’s Data Hub and its recent data centre development with the Sweden MBA students. Thank you HKUST Business School for arranging this program!

The recent "CLP Eco Tour" organized by the "Corporate Customer Experience" team of CLP Group was truly an eye-opening and unique event!

The full day tour included exclusive visit to "Castle Peak Power Station", "Black Point Power Station" and "Cathay Pacific Catering Services Limited". We saw the most advanced energy generating facilities, system and technologies which all designed for achieving efficiency, green and sustainable energy provision. Data centre infrastructure provider like SUNeVision used to be an important partner in the energy consumption and saving ecosystem. The best practices and new initiatives sharing with CLP will definitely help SUNeVision in planning greener and future-proof data centres.

Innothon 10km 2017 was successfully held on October 22, 2017 at Hong Kong Science Park. It is the fourth year SUNeVision, the holding company of iAdvantage be the sponsor for this annual event. Our colleagues formed a team to run 10km and some colleagues enjoyed leisure 1km family run with their kids. Great to see everyone’s smiling faces after sweat and body stretch-out.

Jointly organized by Hong Kong Information Technology Joint Council and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, Innothon 10km 2017 aims at promoting health life to the public. This year, there were over 1,500 runners to competing for the champions.

SUNeVision, the holding company of iAdvantage, hosted “MEGA Plus Xperience” Ceremony on October 18, 2017. Our latest high-tier next generation data centre MEGA Plus now operates in full service. Near 100 guests including important Government officials and department representatives, customers, business partners and media gathered to celebrate the birth of Hong Kong’s newest next generation data centre, and toured the premises to experience the data centre’s innovative and eco-friendly features.

The ceremony was officiated by Mr. Nicholas W Yang, Secretary for Innovation and Technology, HKSAR Government, Mr. Allen Fung, Vice Chairman and Non-Executive Director of SUNeVision, who is also Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Non-Property Portfolio Businesses of Sun Hung Kai Properties Ltd., and Mr. Peter Yan, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of SUNeVision.

Mr. Yang congratulated SUNeVision on the successful completion of this state-of-the-art high-tier data centre built on the first greenfield site dedicated for data centre development. Mr. Yang further said that it is the most impressive facility he has even seen. "Last December, I joined the Topping Out Ceremony of MEGA Plus. Just in 10 months' time, the facility is now in full service. Look at the Hong Kong efficiency!" Mr. Yang added.

The ranking of data centre operators is based on the combined score of data centre density, measured by total operated data centres, and connectivity, measured by the total number of PoPs. SUNeVision received second highest scores among the pool of service providers listed on Cloudscene in the whole Asia regions. SUNeVision’s MEGA-i data centre, with 193 service providers listed, is ranked as number one in the Hong Kong market amongst the 84 colocation data centres that operate in Hong Kong, according to the Leaderboard.
